Painting Steps
Priming and Base Coating
- • Prime the entire model with Chaos Black #231F20 spray.
- • Apply a solid base coat of Iron Warriors Metallic to all the inner mechanical joints, legs, and the trim of the armor plates.
- • Paint the central sections of the armor plates with Mephiston Red Standard.
Armor Plate Gradients
- • Apply Gryph-Hound Orange Contrast over the Mephiston Red, leaving the very edges of the plates darker to create depth.
- • While still slightly damp, wet-blend Fire Dragon Bright Standard onto the upper highlights of each plate to create a glowing effect.
- • Add a tiny edge highlight of Flash Gitz Yellow Standard to the sharpest corners of the orange plates.
Metal Weathering
- • Wash all the Iron Warriors Metallic sections with a 1:1 mix of Nuln Oil Wash and Agrax Earthshade Wash to create a greasy, oily look.
- • Drybrush the edges of the black trim with Iron Warriors to show wear and tear.
Heat Staining the Cannons
- • On the tips of the barrels, apply Drakenhof Nightshade Wash.
- • Moving slightly back from the tip, apply a band of Druchii Violet Wash, overlapping slightly with the blue.
- • Finally, apply Casandora Yellow Wash behind the purple to finish the transition of overheated metal.
