Painting Steps

Skin Preparation

  • Basecoat all skin areas with Orruk Flesh .
  • Apply an all-over wash of Biel-Tan Green to define the muscle structure.
  • Layer muscles with Orruk Flesh , leaving the wash in the deepest recesses.
  • Highlight the highest points like knuckles and brow ridges with Skarsnik Green .

Crimson Armor Plates

  • Basecoat the armor with Khorne Red .
  • Wash with Agrax Earthshade focusing on the rivets and joints.
  • Edge highlight with Mephiston Red .
  • Add fine point highlights with Evil Sunz Scarlet on sharpest corners.

Banner and Tattered Cloth

  • Basecoat the banner with a mix of Corvus Black and Rhinox Hide .
  • Stipple Rhinox Hide near the tears to simulate dirt.
  • Drybrush the edges and the icon with Baneblade Brown to show wear.
  • Apply Rhinox Hide to the leather straps on the banner pole.

Grimy Metallics

  • Basecoat the axe, banner tip, and armor rivets with Leadbelcher .
  • Wash generously with Nuln Oil for a greasy finish.
  • Lightly drybrush Ryza Rust in recesses to simulate oxidation.
  • Edge highlight sharp blades with Stormhost Silver .

Bones and Final Weathering

  • Basecoat skulls with Zandri Dust .
  • Layer with Ushabti Bone , leaving the Zandri Dust in the eye sockets.
  • Highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh on the teeth and cheekbones.
  • Apply small dots of Stormhost Silver to the red armor as 'chipped' metal effects.
