Painting Steps
Paint the red armour
- • Apply a thin, even basecoat of Khorne Red over the red armour, avoiding the black joints, weapon, bone ornaments, and metallic details.
- • Layer Mephiston Red over the raised armour panels, leaving the deepest creases and panel gaps in the darker base colour.
- • Shade the armour recesses carefully with Nuln Oil . Keep the wash in the panel lines and joints; wick away any pools from broad surfaces.
- • Highlight the edges and upper-facing curves with Evil Sunz Scarlet . Add a narrower highlight of Wild Rider Red , then use Fire Dragon Bright sparingly on the sharpest corners and brightest points.
Paint the weapon and dark components
- • Paint the gun casing, flexible joints, and dark undersuit with Abaddon Black .
- • Pick out raised black edges with Eshin Grey , adding a few finer touches of Dawnstone on the most exposed corners.
- • Paint barrels, small metal fittings, and visible ammunition details with Leadbelcher . Add a small highlight of Ironbreaker to the sharpest metal edges.
Paint the gold details
- • Paint the chest wings, belt ornaments, sword hilt, and other gold details with Retributor Armour .
- • Shade the gold recesses with Agrax Earthshade , keeping the wash away from the raised surfaces.
- • Highlight raised feathers, skull details, and the sword hilt with Liberator Gold . Add tiny points of Stormhost Silver to the brightest edges.
Paint the bone insignia
- • Basecoat the bone-coloured shoulder decoration and skull details with Zandri Dust .
- • Apply a controlled layer of Skeleton Horde to deepen the recesses and warm the bone tone. Keep the layer thin so the underlying basecoat still shows through.
- • Highlight the raised surfaces with Ushabti Bone , then add small, sharp accents with Wraithbone .
Paint the green lenses
- • Paint the eye lenses and small indicator lights with Caliban Green , leaving a dark border around each lens.
- • Layer Warpstone Glow inside the lenses, then add a smaller area of Moot Green toward the brightest side.
- • Place a tiny White Scar reflection dot in each lens to make the glass appear luminous.
Paint the power sword
- • Paint the sword blade with a thin base layer of Kantor Blue . Keep the hilt and guard separate from the blade.
- • Layer Teclis Blue through the centre and along the blade, leaving some of the darker base colour visible toward the edges and recesses.
- • Build brighter cyan areas with Baharroth Blue , concentrating them along the cutting edges and energy pattern. Use very thin layers so the transitions stay smooth.
- • Paint fine, irregular lightning-like streaks with White Scar , then soften their edges with a thin glaze of Baharroth Blue .
Paint the parchment
- • Basecoat the parchment with Rakarth Flesh . Shade the folds and edges with Seraphim Sepia , then highlight the raised areas with Ushabti Bone .
- • Use Abaddon Black for a few fine, irregular strokes of script, keeping them small and broken so they read as writing at miniature scale.
Finish the base
- • Basecoat the rocky ground with Mechanicus Standard Grey . Apply Nuln Oil into crevices, cracks, and around rubble.
- • Drybrush raised stone with Dawnstone , followed by a lighter drybrush of Administratum Grey . Use Necron Compound very lightly on the sharpest rock edges.
- • Paint the base rim neatly with Abaddon Black .
