Painting Steps

Priming and Basecoating

  • • Prime the miniature with a light grey spray to ensure smooth coverage.
  • • Apply Uniform Grey to all outer armor panels using two thin coats.
  • • Basecoat the undersuit and visible joints with Deep Blue .

Shading and Definition

  • • Apply Dark Tone wash specifically into the recesses and panel lines of the armor.
  • • Clean up any overflow on the flat panels using Uniform Grey .
  • • Wash the Deep Blue areas with Dark Tone to deepen the shadows.

Layering and Edge Highlighting

  • • Highlight the upper surfaces of the armor panels with Ash Grey .
  • • Apply a sharp edge highlight to the most prominent corners using Spaceship Exterior .
  • • Edge highlight the undersuit with a 1:1 mix of Deep Blue and Electric Blue .

Energy Glow and Weaponry

  • • Paint the energy rail on the rifle and the eye lens with Matte White .
  • • Apply Highlord Blue over the white areas to create a base for the glow.
  • • Gently glaze Electric Blue towards the edges of the white center to simulate a light bleed.
  • • Add a tiny dot of Matte White to the center of the lens and rifle rail for maximum intensity.

Martian Terrain Base

  • • Basecoat the texture of the base with Mars Red .
  • • Drybrush heavily with Lava Orange to bring out the rocky details.
  • • Apply a final light drybrush of Fire Lizard to the sharpest peaks of the ground.
  • • Lightly dust the feet of the miniature with Fire Lizard to simulate dust accumulation.
